Renewal Update - 2010-2011 Academic Year
Those students whose 2010-2011 renewal financial aid application was complete AND received by the May 1st deadline can expect to receive notification of their aid eligibility ONLINE at 8pm on Friday, June 25th. No paper award letters will be sent. Students should access the "Award Letter" area of their online MyHamilton account.
Students that met the May 1st deadline but whose application was determined to be incomplete by the Financial Aid Office should review their online Financial Aid Checklist to determine what was missing. Required documents should be submitted to the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible.
Some examples of an incomplete financial aid application include:
-
Missing W2 (student and/or parent). Even if the student did not file taxes in 2009, if income was earned, we require a copy of the W2.
-
Missing or incomplete Business/Farm Supplement (BFS). Any income (positive, negative, or zero) reported on Line 12 of the 1040 Federal Income Tax Return requires that a BFS be submitted. If this form is missing or incomplete (i.e., second page left blank), we will not process your request for financial aid.
-
All pages (i.e., all schedules, all forms) of a completed federal income tax return must be submitted. Most often, this would impact the parent income tax return only as this tends to have multiple schedules/forms. Financial aid applicants that only submitted the first two pages will not be considered for financial aid until all pages are submitted.
-
In a divorced family situation, we will not review a request for financial aid until we have received all required documentation from the non-custodial parent. This includes non-custodial parent Profile (first time aid applicants) -or- non-custodial parent statement (renewal aid applicants); complete 2009 federal income tax return (including all pages, all forms); all 2009 W2 and 1099.
-
For non-Canadian international students, we must have a completed Certification of Finances form (not a bank statement) in addition to the International Student Aid Application to consider your request for financial aid.
All other students that missed the May 1st deadline will be processed in as timely a manner as possible. We hope to have your review completed and available online on or before July 30th. If your aid eligibility notification has not been posted online after that date, please contact our office.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
