Hill Card Discover® Card

The Hill Card is not only the college ID, but it can also serve as a Discover® debit card.  Once activated, it allows students to receive Business Office disbursements to their Discover® debit account.  Students may also elect to have their student payroll deposited to their Hill Card Discover® debit card.

Activating the Hill card Discover® Card

If students want to use the Money Network® enabled Discover® debit card feature, they should follow the steps below.

  1. Go to www.moneynetworkedu.com. (Please note, if you just had a new card printed at the Hill Card office, you must wait until after 5 p.m. to log in to activate and upgrade your card.  New card information is transmitted to Money Network at noon and 5 p.m. daily.)
  2. At the top right side of the page, select First Time Users: Register Now.
  3. Enter the 16-digit number shown on the front of your Hill Card Discover Card and the Valid Thru date.
  4. Follow the screen prompts to set up your User ID and Password.
  5. Once students complete the online registration to activate their card, they must call 1-800-822-4283 and speak with customer service to upgrade the account (no fee charged to upgrade).  The card must be upgraded to enable deposits into the Discover® debit card account. The customer service representative will request the Social Security Number and address as part of the upgrade process. 
  6. Allow 24 hours for the upgrade process to complete. 
  7. Once your account has successfully upgraded, log into www.moneynetworkedu.com using your user ID and password.
  8. Students and parents can also deposit funds to the Hill Card Discover® debit card.  This is done via a fund transfer from a personal bank account to the Discover® debit card account.  Transfers of this type take up to six (6) business days to process.  At this time, there is no online method to instantly fund the card.
  9. To set up deposit options, go to the Dashboard link at the top left of the page and select one of the Money In options offered.  (If setting up a Transfer of Funds, you must have the pop-up blocker set to "off" to enable the third-party processor website to appear.)
  10. If  parents want to set up a Transfer of Funds from a bank account to their student's Discover® debit card account, they must log in at www.moneynetworkedu.com using the student's user ID and password.  Fund transfers take six (6) business days to complete.
  11. If students wish to receive Business Office refunds to the Discover® debit account, they must opt in at http://my.hamilton.edu/hillcard/blackboard-pay.
  12. Students can monitor all their Discover® debit account activity at www.moneynetworkedu.com.
What are the advantages of the Hill Card Discover® debit card?
  • It is NOT a credit card.  It is a pre-paid debit card.
  • Use it anywhere Discover® cards are accepted.
  • Get free withdrawals at any Allpoint® ATM or participating ATM's on campus (Bristol Center and Beinecke Student Activities Village).
  • The Welcome Kit cardholders receive with their card comes with checks than can be cashed free at any Walmart location (once the cardholder has activated the Discover® account and deposited funds to the account).
  • Funds can be deposited to a student's Discover® debit card account by the College Business Office (refunds, financial aid, payroll direct deposit).
