The Japanese Program in the East Asian Languages and Literatures Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a one-year position in Japanese Culture/Language at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, effective July 2012. Responsibilities include teaching cultural aspects of Japan in the successful candidate’s specialization (e.g., literature, cinema/media), as well as language courses. We seek applicants with Ph.D. in hand or near completion, fluency or near fluency in Japanese and English, strong commitment to teaching undergraduates within an interdisciplinary context. Training and actual experience in Japanese language teaching at college level is strongly preferred. Consideration of applications will begin in February and continue until the position is filled.
