Office 2010 (Windows)/Office 2011 (Mac)
ITS is planning to start to roll out Office 2010/2011 to the campus community this summer as part of computer replacements. More details will be forthcoming. In the meantime, if you are curious about the look and feel of this new software, come and take a look.
-
FileMaker 11
In the coming months, ITS will work with the campus community to identify those using legacy versions of FileMaker and upgrade them to FileMaker 11 or, if applicable, recommend another application. In the process of this upgrade, we want to develop a repository that details the FileMaker databases currently in use and future database needs across campus. Since the tools we have available to us are changing rapidly, we want to be able to help you work as efficiently as possible.

Q&A with ITS
We'll end the session taking your questions about these new technologies and about any other technology related issues that may be on your mind.
Web Editing with SiteManager
Whether creating a page for your administrative office, academic department, student organization, or your own professional page, SiteManager, Hamilton's own web editing tool, can be used to create your web presence. Check out the March/April class and working session schedule.

Future Enhancements to HillConnect - Maureen Scoones |
Now that our transition to the new version of HillConnect is complete, we are receiving questions about the many new Google applications that are not currently enabled in the new version.
Why not enable them now? Many of the applications and features in the Google Apps suite store your personal data and files (e.g. Google Docs). When students graduate, or employees move on, they will lose access to this data if it is tied to their @hamilton.edu account. We want to make sure that we have considered the potential issues related to storing information with Google, and have consulted with the appropriate groups on campus about a solid policy for enabling new functionality. Therefore, in the coming months you will hear more from ITS about this topic.

Multiple Account Sign-in for E-mail - Scott Paul |
After the recent transition to the new version of HillConnect, you may want to to sign in to your HillConnect e-mail account and your personal Google G-mail account simultaneously, in the same web browser. Here are the steps to do so:
-
Enable multi-user sign in by going to the Multiple Sessions page: https://www.google.com/accounts/b/0/MultipleSessions
-
After signing in to the first account, sign-in to another G-mail account:
-
Click on the down triangle next to your user name
.
-
Select Switch accounts. From here, the menu will change and you can select Sign in to another account.
-
Enter your credentials for your other Google e-mail account.
-
If you don't see the down triangle next to your user name:
-
Clear your browser's cache and cookies. For instructions go to: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050.
-
Close and reopen your web browser.
-
What is a web browser cookie? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie
-
If both tabs in your browser are showing the same account:
-
With one of the account tabs selected, click on the down triangle next to your user name.
-
Select Switch accounts. Assuming you successfully logged in to your other account in step 2, you should see it listed as one of the two accounts you have open. One of them will have a large green check mark next to it. Click on the other account and it will appear in that tab instead.

-
You should now have both accounts available to you in the same web browser on different tabs.
-
Can you open three Google accounts simultaneously in your web browser?
-
Yes, three is the maximum number of Google accounts that can be simultaneously open in one web browser. Additional accounts have to be accessed in a separate web browser.
-
TIP: Use Firefox to login to your first three Google accounts, then use Internet Explorer to access your additional Google accounts.
If you have any questions about multiple account sign-in, please call the ITS Help Desk at 859-4181. The ITS Help Desk hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
