Tour Guide Series Part 4: Om nom nom nom food nom nom

Being from just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, and having experienced an array of delicious foods, I was genuinely concerned that collegiate dining would be the death of me! However, that is not the case at Hamilton.

We have two main dining halls, Commons and McEwen, and two other dining options: the diner and the pub. Being a pescitarian, I am extremely picky when it comes to food, but Hamilton has provided so many options.

At Commons, we have a sandwich bar where the sandwiches are made for you, soup options (vegetarian and not vegetarian), a diverse salad bar, hot food options (also serves vegetarian and non vegetarian options), a grill (for your cheeseburger, hamburger, veggie burger, turkey burger needs!) a sushi bar and a pasta bar, both of which are made to order. The weekend brunch is awesome, too, because the grill becomes an omelet station, and a Belgium waffle maker replaces the sandwich bar.

McEwen, which is located on the Kirkland side of campus, has more or less of what eaters typically find at Commons. However, McEwen has more vegetarian options, so I naturally gravitate to eating here.

The diner, open until midnight, is another meal option when the dining halls close at 8 p.m. Here you can find your typical diner foods: burgers, salads, tuna melts, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, oh and various sandwiches/paninis.

The pub is typically open for pub lunch, but I do not go their that often given that I am not 21 - hahaha. But the pub is known to serve lobster a few times during a semester. I have my friends notify me via text me for that : ) !!!!

One of the benefits about being in Upstate New York is that our foods are more farm friendly. Hamilton’s dining catering service, Bon Appetit, makes a conscious effort to get foods from local farms.
