Hi. My name is Troy Smith and I am a junior math major. Yes, a math major. I had not always planned on being a math major, but it looks like math found me again. When I first arrived at Hamilton, I did not know what areas I wanted to focus on so I found myself experimenting with many different courses. Before coming here, I had always taken math classes, so at the end up my first semester I decided to sign up for one and at least give it a chance. You see, because I had done so much math when I was growing up, I initially decided I would stay away from math altogether. But fate would not let this happen. I took a course with a math professor we like to call Professor Bedient, and then I took another course with him in the following semester, and then...well, you know.
So that's how I became a math major, I made a half-hearted attempt to avoid math, but was reeled in once again. I am a math major now, but it was nice to experiment with other areas, and being a math major has not prevented me from continuing to do so.
Ok, enough about that. Before I conclude my initial entry, let me tell you a little more about myself. I am from New York City, and I really enjoy watching movies. I have been known to go watch the movies that are shown by the Samuel Kirkland Film Society, and I watch many movies over breaks. I am always up for a conversation about a good movie, so feel free to stop me and talk sometime. I think that's all for now...
