March 9, 2012

First, I owe you guys an apology. I had two extremely busy weeks filled with midterms, work, meetings, and all kinds of other fun stuff. Consequently, I have been very bad at keeping up with my journal entries.

Anyway, yesterday was my 20th birthday. It fell at a somewhat inconvenient time since I had so much stuff to do, but I still ended up having a fantastic birthday. A group of my close friends took me out to the local Indian restaurant. Indian food is my absolute favorite and on Thursdays the Indian restaurant has a buffet dinner, so I was in heaven.

As if that wasn’t enough, they gave me the best present I could ever ask for. Before I tell you what it is, I have a confession to make. I have an addiction. It’s a little bit of a problem. I am unhealthily obsessed with ice cream. And like any close friends, my friends are excellent enablers. So, they bought me a three-month membership to an ice cream of the month club. Each month, I will receive four pints of gourmet ice cream.

We came back from dinner, and I went off to finish my Arabic paper. Then I had work from 8-10. After I got out of work, my friend gave me a call and told me to come to Carnegie (one of the dorms on campus). I was rather looking forward to going back to my room, watching a TV show, and passing out early, but I obliged and wandered over to Carnegie.

I knocked on the door, and entered. I was greeted by a loud “SURPISE!!!” It turns out my roommate had organized a surprise party for me. I didn’t know people did that in college, but it was the perfect end to a wonderful birthday. And today marks the start of Spring Break. So it’s been a pretty great couple of days. Right now I’m staying in New York City with four of my friends on the ultimate frisbee team. Tomorrow we’re flying down to Georgia for a tournament. But more on that later.
