October 10, 2012
This past weekend was Fallcoming, which was especially exciting this year because of the opening of the brand new (and my new official favorite) building on campus, the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum! As soon as I walked into the museum, I felt as if I were in a metropolitan museum in New York City. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, and everyone there was so excited by the extensive exhibits (the phrase “I’m so excited I’m sweating” was repeated several times throughout the night). I could rant and rave about it, but if you want to see it for yourself, check out these photos: http://www.hamilton.edu/photos. Also, if you come visit campus, be sure to walk around and check out the building and the exhibits!
Another cool thing about Fallcoming is that all the alumni come back. I got to see some familiar faces from last year, and hear their post-graduation stories. The coolest story I heard was from 2012 graduate Katrina, who was in the middle of a bicycling trip through New England with her boyfriend (also a 2012 graduate). Coincidentally, I also bumped into my friend’s brother, James Hansel, who also went to my high school. I remember when I was in eighth grade, I tagged along with my sister on her college tours, and when we visited Hamilton, we bumped into James in the library. It was nice to talk with him and see what he’s done since Hamilton… You can really tell that the alumni are excited and happy to visit when they’re here, and the students are equally as excited to see and catch up with them.
