The Levitt Center supports the concept that significant learning experiences can take place off campus. Therefore a number of innovative field trips have been sponsored, including a trip by government students to Kenya, a combined English/History trip to London, and a historical tour of significant sites from the Civil Rights Movement in the southeastern United States.
Student regularly take part in national and regional conferences, often with Levitt Center support. Examples include: a Hamilton College team at the Model United Nations, a group who attended an Amnesty International conference, and a team sent to Model European Union.
Ten Hamilton students traveled to Montreal to participate in the McGill University Model United Nations Assembly (McMUN), which convened January 26-29. The conference drew more than 1,300 delegates to fill 25 different committees that focused on international relations in the Information Age.

Over winter break 15 students from Hamilton’s Model European Union club — as well as faculty advisor Alan Cafruny, the Henry Platt Bristol Professor of International Affairs — attended the 25th annual EuroSim conference in Wroclaw, Poland, from Jan. 5-8. Each year, the EuroSim conference presents a different topic relating to European policy; the topic of this year’s conference was European asylum policy and the development of a common European asylum system.

Ten Hamilton students traveled to Boston to participate in the Boston Area Model United Nations Conference hosted by Boston University. The conference convened Oct. 20-23, and drew more than 200 delegates to fill a variety of panels. Unlike many Model United Nations conferences, every committee functioned as a crisis committee in order to engage students and encourage them to find non-traditional solutions to pressing international crises.
