The Couper Press’s latest book, The Encyclopedic Guide to American Intentional Communities (2013) by Timothy Miller, received a favorable review in CHOICE magazine. The reviewer states that this new volume “ the most comprehensive listing (with descriptions) of American intentional communities that this reviewer has seen,” and considers Miller’s work essential for undergraduates and the general research community. Timothy Miller is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Kansas. He studies new religious movements in the United States, with a special focus on groups in the past and present that practice communal living.The Couper Press was established in 2006 by Couper Librarian Randall Ericson of the Burke Library at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. The press is named in honor of the late Richard W. Couper '44, an alumnus, life trustee of Hamilton and benefactor of the Burke Library.
