Media Library

The Media Library holds video recordings of many types and has a variety of playback equipment for local viewing of items from the collections.

Policies

Circulation Policy

Videos in the Media Collection are non-circulating. They must be viewed using the library's playback equipment.

Faculty may borrow materials for one week for use in the classroom. If a student needs to borrow materials, the item is charged out in the faculty member's name, with their permission.

Recalls Policy

Videos and other media materials that are checked out to faculty may be recalled for immediate return if needed for reserve or use in another class when original class showing date has passed.

Food and Drink

Food and drink are not allowed in the Media Library.

Equipment

Playback Equipment

Equipment is available on which patrons may view videos, DVDs or slides, or to listen to audiotapes, etc.

Computers

There is one networked computer in the Media Library for patron use. ALEX, databases and other resources may be accessed from them. Local black and white printing is available.

Services

Ordering for Purchase

Requests for new videorecordings and dvd's should be sent to Marilyn Huntley, x4120 or mhuntley@hamilton.edu. The source of the information should be provided whenever possible. Rush orders are possible when necessary, depending on the individual video producer. The item will be cataloged as quickly as possible and the faculty member will be notified.

Reserves

Library owned videos and dvd's as well as personal copies and other items may be placed on reserve at the Media Library. As with the rest of the collection, listening facilities are available for use of reserves.
