The Reference Librarians provide course-integrated instruction in information resources. Typically, classes are taught by the subject liaison assigned to the particular discipline.
Reference Librarians work with faculty to determine how best to address the needs of the students. Courses that routinely integrate library instruction into their syllabi range from English 150 to senior seminars in Biology and Government.
Opportunities for individual consultation with reference librarians are also offered to all students. One-hour consultations, or research assistance appointments, are offered throughout the academic year.
Students receive a customized checklist of recommended resources, owned by the Hamilton College Library and available elsewhere, prepared by the Reference Librarians. Students are also encouraged to contact the reference librarian at a later time if they have further questions.
