Nationally ranked No. 4 Gettysburg College jumped out to a 5-0 lead and went on to a 13-8 win against No. 6 Hamilton College in an NCAA Division III championships tournament quarterfinal contest played at Gettysburg's Clark Field on May 13.

Gettysburg (17-3 overall) will advance to the national semifinals for the second straight year. The Bullets ended Hamilton's 16-game win streak. The Continentals (16-3) set program records for wins in a season and consecutive victories. Hamilton has lost in the quarterfinal round in all three NCAA tournament appearances.

Jen McGowan '08 led the Continentals' offense with two goals and one assist. Suzy Belmont '07 added two goals and finished with seven in the 2007 NCAA tournament. Liz Longley '07 chipped in one goal and one assist. Longley ended her career with 87 assists, which is a program record.

Inga Stots '07 scored the 108th goal of her career and finished in eighth place on the program's all-time list in that category. Kate Marek '09 recorded one goal, three ground balls and two draw controls. Liz Rave '10 notched her ninth goal. Liberty League Player of the Year Nicole Tetreault '08 was credited with two assists. Tetreault finished the season second on the team with 78 points.

Kalley Greer '07 made a valiant effort in her final game in goal for Hamilton. Greer made 11 saves, including 10 in the first half. She also picked up 10 ground balls and caused three turnovers. Tara Eckberg '08 led the defense with two caused turnovers. Eckberg and Marek finished tied for the team lead with 19 caused turnovers apiece.

Gettysburg led 7-2 at the half as the Bullets held a commanding 24-7 advantage in shots during the first 30 minutes. Rave pulled the Continentals within four goals at 10-6 on an unassisted tally with 19:44 left, but Hamilton didn't get any closer. On the goal, Rave was fouled at her own eight-meter line, setting her up with possession. After the whistle, she ran more than 80 yards and blew by at least four Bullets before she ended up 1-on-1 with the goalie.

Gettysburg won 16 draw controls to the Continentals' seven for the entire game. Hamilton's eight goals were its fewest in one game since the Continentals edged Nazareth College 8-6 back on March 22.
