Hamilton College men's soccer forward Greg Rogan '07 (Cork, Ireland/South Kent School [Conn.]) and women's lacrosse attack Liz Longley '07 (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury HS) received the 2007 Jack B. Riffle Awards at the College's senior varsity athlete awards dinner on May 17.

The Riffle Award has been presented annually since 1987 to the most outstanding Hamilton male and female senior athlete. Riffle graduated from Hamilton in 1950 and passed away on Dec. 13, 1986. A group of Riffle's friends and associates established a memorial fund in his name because of his deep interest in Hamilton athletics.

Rogan is the first men's soccer player selected to win the Riffle in 21 years. He finished his career as the program's all-time leader in goals with 30 and points with 72. As a senior captain in 2006, Rogan was named the Liberty League's Player of the Year and was voted an NCAA Division III third team All-American. He guided the Continentals to a record of 11-4-1, the program's second league regular season title and its third NCAA Division III championships tournament berth.

The four-year letter winner is a three-time member of all-Northeast region and all-league teams. Rogan helped lead Hamilton to 42 wins and four postseason appearances. The Continentals won one league tournament title (2004) and played in two NCAA Division III tournaments (2004, 2006) during his four years.

Longley is the sixth women's lacrosse player honored at the Riffle Dinner, but the first since 2001. She finished her career as the program's all-time leader in assists with 87. Longley is ranked third on the career points list with 197 and seventh in goals with 110. She was one of three captains on a 2007 team that won Liberty League regular season and tournament titles, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III tournament.

The four-year letter winner scored 37 goals and was credited with 33 assists as a junior in 2006. Longley was voted the league's Player of the Year and named an NCAA Division III second team All-American that season. She helped lead her team to 48 wins, including a program-record 16 victories this season, and four postseason appearances. Longley also played two seasons for the basketball team.

The featured guest speaker was former Cornell University head men's lacrosse coach Richie Moran. Moran coached Cornell to three NCAA Division I championships and three runners-up finishes from 1969 to 1997. His players earned a total of 26 first team All-America selections and Moran received Division I Coach of the Year honors three times. He was also a key performer on a University of Maryland team that won a national title in 1959.
