Men's Track Athlete Honored by Liberty League

NCAA Champion Kosgei '10 Selected Outdoor Rookie, Co-Track Performer of the Year

Hamilton College men's track standout Peter Kosgei '10 (Kapsabet, Kenya/Kapsabet Boys' HS) was selected the Liberty League outdoor Rookie of the Year and a co-Track Performer of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches on June 1.

Kosgei is the first NCAA Division III champion and just the third All-American in Hamilton men's track and field history. He finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA meet as he set school and facility records with a time of 8:55.41 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on May 25.

Kosgei also won the steeplechase at the league, New York State and New England Small College Athletic Conference championships. He broke meet records in the event at the state and league championships. Kosgei captured the 800-meter run title at the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships on May 18. He set school and facility records in the 800 with a time of 1:52.04.
