Jeffrey Michael Holden '96

Jeffrey Michael Holden '96, who compiled an outstanding record as an athlete while at Hamilton, was born on February 19, 1972. son of Michael Holden, trust officer, and the former Patricia Farris, secretary, Jeff Holden was graduate of Kennedy Collegiate Institute in Windsor, Ontario, where he captained the football team. He arrived on College Hill from his hometown of Windsor in 1992 and quickly joined the varsity football team. He became a four year letter winner as place kicker and also started for two years as defensive back. He played with tremendous dedication as well as skill, and he could often be seen on Steuben Field late at night practicing his kicking. Elected captain of the team in his senior year, he accepted the honor with great pride and redoubled dedication. He was also devoted to his fraternity, Psi Upsilon, which he served as house manager.

Following his graduation as an economics major in 1996, Jeff Holden returned to his native Canada and took up residence in Toronto. The College has little information on his subsequent activities, except that at one time he was employed by the Toronto Dominion Bank. This past summer, word was received by the College that Jeff Holden had died on May 27, 2006, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident week earlier in Toronto.

In addition to his parents and brothers and sisters, Jeffrey M. Holden is survived by his companion, Allison Waite, and son, Aidan Jazz Waite Holden, born in 2005. A tribute to Jeff Holden's memory was offered on Steuben Field last October, prior to the gridiron game with Williams College.
