The Writing Center's Website has undergone a redesign to better serve the Hamilton community. The goal was to provide easier access to the information that Web visitors most often wanted.
"We conducted surveys with students and looked closely at the traffic patterns to identify what content was popular with our on-campus visitors," said J.D. Ross, Hamilton's director of Web content. "Then we worked with the Writing Center to highlight this content based on what they believe students need to know."
The result is a site that gives one-click accessibility to information on using proper citations, writing effective essays and avoiding the ever-notorious Seven Deadly Sins of Bad Writing.
The Writing Center's Website is popular off the Hill as well. Last year the site drew more than 190,000 page views from off-campus visitors among its more than 233,000 total page views.
"And," Ross adds, "we rank favorably with the search engines when it comes to looking up writing advice and information."
