For 9 days and 3210 miles, Sharon Hakim and I led a group of 8 other Hamilton students to Louisiana to spend time doing disaster relief in a small town about two hours away from New Orleans.
The West Emmanuel Baptist Church of Bogalusa, LA became our home during our stay.
The 9th ward, one of the poorest neighborhoods in New Orleans, took the largest damage from the storm.
The orange writing is code: the number at the bottom is the number of bodies found.
The ground was littered with personal items that once held memories. Now, destroyed and water soaked, it's simply litter.

Case 1, working on removing all damaged tarp and shingles, patching the roof, and re-shingling. It took three full days to complete this job, mostly because of the need to rework the complete porch and a large part of the roof.
