Photo: VA clear view of the variety of icebergs found in Iceberg Alley the region along the eastern edge of the South Orkney Plateau. The flat tabular bergs are relatively recently calved into the ocean from large ice shelves surrounding the Weddell Sea, while the pinnacle and rounded bergs have been floating around for some time, weathering, melting and rotating as they do so.
