Photo: We entered the sea ice marginal zone and all through the night the Gould made its way into an ever changing scene of sea ice and ice bergs. Today's dawn finds us at the leading edge of the great Weddell Sea Pack ice zone which at this time of year is moving north with the southerly winds and being pushed by the Weddell Gyre (a clockwise moving current of immense proportions tens of thousands of square kilometers in area).
