  • Men's cross country places eighth at NESCAC championship

    Kosgei '10 repeats as individual winner

    Peter Kosgei '10 successfully defended his individual title at the New England Small College Athletic Conference championship as Hamilton College finished in eighth place at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine, on Nov. 1.

    Kosgei won by 35 seconds with a time of 25:07, which was a record on Bates College's 8,000-meter course. He has won 16 out of the 17 races he has competed in with Hamilton. He finished second at the 2007 NCAA Division III championship.

    Will Reid '10 was 38th out of 119 runners with a time of 27:01. Scott Bickard '11 followed in 47th place with a time of 27:12. Devon Lynch '11 ended up 66th in 27:37 and Cuffie Winkler '10 rounded out the Continentals' top five in 72nd place with a time of 27:45.

    Hamilton's final team score was 199 points. Williams College paced the 11-team field with 44 points. Three NESCAC teams are ranked in the latest NCAA Division III Top 35 coaches poll.

    The Continentals host the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championship on Saturday, Nov. 8. The men's race starts at 11 a.m.
