Peter Kosgei '10 claimed the top honors in two events as Hamilton College competed in the New England Small College Athletic Conference track and field championships at Connecticut College's Silfen Track and Field Complex on April 25.

Hamilton finished in ninth place out of 11 teams with 47 points. Team champion Williams College amassed 158.50 points.

Kosgei finished first in the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run. He set meet and facility records with a time of 1:50.44 in the 800. He qualified for the NCAA Division III championships in May in the event. His time of 3:53.74 in the 1,500 met a provisional qualifying standard for the national meet.

James Russell '09 took first place in the pole vault for the fourth straight year and broke meet and school records as he cleared 4.74 meters (15-feet-6½). Russell's height met a provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA meet.

Greg Fullman '09 captured second place in the 400-meter hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 55.67 seconds. Josh Orndorff '11 placed third in the shot put with a mark of 13.88 meters (45-feet-6½).

Keith Gross '09 and Will Reid '10 also delivered top-eight finishes for the Continentals. Gross finished seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:48.40. Reid was eighth in the 10,000-meter run in 32:54.30.

A number of Hamilton athletes will compete in the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships at St. Lawrence University on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.
