Peter Kosgei '10 set meet and school records in the 800-meter run as Hamilton College finished 10th in the 15-team New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships at the University of Rochester's Fauver Stadium on May 2 and 3.
Kosgei's time of 1:48.72 broke Buffalo State's George Lewis' meet record of 1:51.1 that had stood since 1980. Kosgei, who set a program record for the second straight week, has the fastest 800 time in NCAA Division III this year. Greg Fullman '09 captured fourth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.29 seconds. James Russell '09 tied for sixth place in the pole vault as he cleared 4.26 meters (13-feet-11¾). Bill Kearney '08 finished seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.86 meters (45-feet-5¾). Travis Tomaselli '11 took eighth place in the long jump with a leap of 6.07 meters (19-feet-11).
Hamilton's 3,200-meter relay ended up in eighth place with a time of 8:01.06. Members of the relay included Cuffie Winkler '10, Keith Gross '09, Allan Guiney '08 and Will Bartholomew '08.
The Continentals finished with 21.5 team points. SUNY Brockport won the team title with 126.5 points. Hamilton will compete in Roberts Wesleyan College's Raiders Open on Thursday, May 8 at 4 p.m.
