Several prints by William R. Kenan Professor of Art Bruce Muirhead and Professor of Art William Salzillo are on display at the Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition in Peoria, Ill. Included in the exhibition are Muirhead’s “Secret Viewers” and “Fourth of July,” and “Nightingale” by Salzillo. Organized by Bradley University, the biennial juried show runs through April 15.

Walcott-Bartlett Professor of Religion Jay Williams discussed “Thomas Nast as an Artist” on Feb. 6 at the Arts Center - Old Forge, in Old Forge, N.Y. Thirty holiday-themed Thomas Nast wood engravings from Williams’ collection were on display at the center in an exhibition titled “Thomas Nast Celebrates the Holidays.”

An exhibit featuring 40 intaglio works by members of the Atelier Four is on display through Feb. 3, in the Foreman Gallery at Hartwick College’s Anderson Center for the Arts. The Atelier Four is William R. Keenan Professor of Art Bruce Muirhead, Professor of Art and Curator of the Hamilton Collects Program William Salzillo and artists Amy Georgia Buchholz ’80 and Jake Muirhead ’86.

Louis Boguchwal ’12 and Dan Kamenetsky ’11 presented posters detailing the results of research they conducted last summer, at the Joint Mathematics Meetings (JMM) held Jan. 6-9, in New Orleans.

Two papers by Assistant Professor of Economics Emily Conover, “Manipulation of Social Program Eligibility: Detection, Explanations and Consequences for Empirical Research” and “Effects of Colombia's Social Protection System on Workers' Choice between Formal and Informal Employment,” were presented at the American Economic Association meeting held Jan. 6-9, in Denver.

James S. Sherman Professor of Government Philip Klinkner and Jesse Stinebring ’13 presented a paper at the Southern Political Science Association meeting held Jan. 6-8, in New Orleans. “Black, White, and Green: Race and Campaign Spending in the 2008 Election” examines the role of race resentment in recent elections and whether Barack Obama’s campaign spending advantage impacted the outcome of the 2008 presidential election.

Associate Professor of Government Sharon Werning Rivera and David W. Rivera, former lecturer in government, published an article titled “El'tsin, Putin, i Klinton: prezidentskoe liderstvo i rossiiskaya demokratiya v sravnitel'noi perspective” (“Yeltsin, Putin, and Clinton: Presidential Leadership and Russian Democratization in Comparative Perspective”) in the September 2010 edition of Mir i Politika (“The World and Politics”).

“Ability, Assistance, and Collaboration in Academic Library Assessment,” an article by Assistant Dean of Faculty for Institutional Research Gordon Hewitt and Reference Librarian Rebecca Troendle Hewitt, was published in the November issue of the electronic journal Library Philosophy and Practice (LPP).

Maurice Isserman, the James L. Ferguson Professor of History, has published a review of two new books about Henry Hudson, Douglas Hunter’s Half Moon: Henry Hudson and the Voyage that Redrew the Map of the New World and Fatal Journey: The Final Expedition of Henry Hudson by Peter C. Mancall. Isserman’s article, “Dead Reckoning: The Mysterious Henry Hudson,” appears in the September issue of Reviews in American History.

Professor of Geosciences Barbara Tewksbury and Geosciences Technician Dave Tewksbury gave several presentations at the 6th Quadrennial Conference of the International Geoscience Educators Organisation (IGEO) held Aug. 30 – Sept. 3, at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
