  • Hamilton College senior All-American Maggie Hanson is one of 58 student-athletes from across the country to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She becomes the third Hamilton student to receive the prestigious scholarship.

  • The Hamilton College (14-9-1, 13-5-1) men's hockey team will host Colby College (14-6-3, 11-5-3) in the quarterfinal round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. The game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. in Russell Sage Rink.

  • The Hamilton College men's soccer team opened their 2001 campaign with a 2-0 win at Middlebury College on 9/8/01. The Continentals got on the board 26:09 into the first half as Lei Li scored after Middlebury goalkeeper Brian Hamm tried to clear the ball out of the area. Schuyler Gellatly sealed the victory for Hamilton when he scored into an empty net after Hamm tried to clear the ball away. Doug Bellard made nine saves for the Continentals.

  • The Continentals opened their 2001 season this afternoon (9/8/01) at Ithaca College, losing 6-1. Eden Self scored the lone goal for Hamilton on an assist from Colleen Trzaskos. Sarah Baldwin made 11 saves on the game.

  • The men and women's cross country teams began their 2001 campaign against Union College at Saratoga Springs. Both the men and women's teams were victorious. The women swept the top three spots led by senior Maggie Hanson. Mac Weiss led the charge for the Continentals in the men's race.

  • The women's tennis team was defeated by Nazareth College, 6-3 on 9/7/01 at Nazareth. Lindsey Schantz, Ana Venturas and Ginger Pearson were victorious in singles competition. Hamilton is now 1-1 on the season.

  • Hamilton College Director of Athletics, Thomas E. Murphy, has announced that Mike Gilbert has been hired as the head coach of the men's and women's crew teams. Gilbert takes over for Joe Bilyea who left after three years to become the assistant coach of the women's crew team at the University of Tennessee. "We are very pleased to have Mike join our staff," said Murphy. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our department and is a welcome addition to our staff."

  • The Hamilton College women's tennis team opened their 2001 campaign with a 9-0 victory over LeMoyne College. The Continentals travel to Nazareth College on Friday, Sept. 7, for a 5 p.m. match.

  • The Hamilton College women's lacrosse team defeated Denison University, 18-6 this afternoon in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Division III Championships. Caty Wakefield led Hamilton with five goals. Sarah Gloo had four goals. Jessica Asrican made five saves in goal for the Continentals. Hamilton dominated from the opening whistle, leading 10-3 at the half. Hamilton will face The College of New Jersey tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals. CNJ defeated Drew University, 14-8 in the day's first game.

  • The Hamilton College women's lacrosse team has been selected to play in the 2001 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships. The Continentals will host College of New Jersey, Drew University and Dennison on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13. (The times will be announced May 7, later today). Hamilton will play Dennison, while the College of New Jersey will play Drew University.
