The Hamilton College men’s soccer team lost its third one-goal game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to nationally ranked No. 15 Amherst in a NESCAC game at Amherst’s Hitchcock Field.

The Lord Jeffs held on for the win by making a save with 14 seconds left in regulation. Hamilton falls to 4-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the NESCAC. Amherst is 7-0-2 overall and alone atop the conference standings with a 5-0-2 mark.

The Continentals were outshot 22-11. They were held without a shot on goal until the final minute when Jacob Frost ’15 put the ball on net but Amherst goalkeeper Thomas Bull made the game-saving stop.

The only goal came in the 19th minute when Nico Pascual-Leone received a cross in the middle sent from the right side by Bryce Ciambella. Milton Rico was also credited with an assist on the play.

Harris Pollack ’17 made five saves in goal for the Continentals. Pollack owns a .80 goals against average and a save percentage of .846.

Hamilton returns home to host Ithaca College in non-conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The Lord Jeffs welcome Colby for a Saturday game.
