The Clinton A Better Chance (ABC) Program  presented Hamilton alumnus Gilbert Adams '45 and his wife, Mickey,  with a Lifetime Achievement Award at its 30th Anniversary Dinner and Award Celebration on May 10.

ABC is a national program that takes students from inner city or educationally disadvantaged school districts and brings them to a school district that will allow them to grow academically with the hope that this will prepare them to go to college.

The Clinton ABC Program was started in 1972 with Mickey and Gil Adams '45 serving as the first resident directors (1972-1976).  The Adamses continued their involvement with the program serving on the board of directors for many years.  Mickey served as president of the board from 1978-1979 and Gil served as president of the board from 1980-1982.  They have also taken leadership roles in fundraisers, administration and volunteering.
