Matthew Spencer Innes ’05 and Eric Scott Kaplan ’04 will be participating in the 6th Annual Connecticut Challenge 100 Mile Century Ride on July 24, 2010. For Innes and Kaplan, it will be a third consecutive trip to Fairfield, Connecticut for the event. The two, who were roommates and lacrosse teammates during their time at Hamilton, rode in excess of 400 miles combined over the past two years.

Funds raised by the event will go to the Yale Cancer Center, as well as other organizations dedicated to the overarching cause of Cancer Survivorship. The total contributions, which last year totaled $621,148 raised by the 406 riders and 5,400 donors, also go to raising awareness for patients and survivors, and aid to those who have tirelessly fought the disease and may be continuing to do so. In the cumulative history of the ride, over $2,600,000 have been raised for the cause.

In describing the event, Kaplan said, "While the fundraiser champions the cancer survivors, those who continue to fight, and the families who continue to support those individuals, it also honors those loved ones we have lost, battling courageously, along the way. In this sense, we are always cycling forward with doctors, family members, friends, philanthropists, survivors alike - towards a cure."
