Amanda Siepiola '02 is featured in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) 2010-2011 School Year Calendar. The calendar highlights 12 of the school district’s most effective and inspirational teachers with pictures and quotations each month. "Our teachers work hard every day to shape our children’s lives, build their dreams and create the foundation for the future of our city," said Mayor Adrian M. Fenty. "With this calendar, we honor our teachers and say 'thank you' for your dedication to our children."


Siepiola has been a second-grade teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School for four years. She has six years of teaching experience in DCPS, having started as an assistant in kindergarten and first grade while still a graduate student. She was an AmeriCorps volunteer with City Year Boston and taught in an elementary school Little Rock, AR.. She is featured October 2010 in the calendar.


Siepiola played women’s basketball and soccer at Hamilton. She graduated with a degree in history and returned to coordinate Project SHINE. She earned her master’s degree in elementary education from American University.
