Hamilton College's Sacerdote Great Names Series has featured the most sought-after speaker in America, and is about to host another of the five people Americans would most like to hear, according to a recent Gallup Poll.

A Gallup Poll of 1,016 adults, conducted Feb. 19-21, asked Americans whom they "would be most interested in hearing give a speech." Results were: Colin Powell, 79 percent, President Bush, 69 percent, Jimmy Carter, 66 percent, Oprah Winfrey, 59 percent and Bill Clinton, 51 percent. The poll had a margin of error of +3 percentage points. Colin Powell was the inaugural speaker in the Great Names series in 1996. Former President Jimmy Carter visited Hamilton on Monday, April 30 as the most recent speaker in the Sacerdote Great Names series.
