Frank Anechiarico ’71, Maynard-Knox Professor of Government and Law, was a keynote speaker at the Forum on Governance and Competitiveness organized by the Centro de Investigation y Docencia Economicas in Mexico City on September 25.

Government officials and academics participating in the forum considered a wide range of factors influencing market operation. Anechiarico’s talk, “Corruption and Corruption Control as Impediments to Economic Competitiveness,” addressed the costs of what may be considered “useful” or “necessary” corruption, the costs of stringent integrity controls and the way that public integrity networks are used to reduce these costs as well as raise the quality of governance.
