Barbara Gold

Barbara Gold, the Edward North Professor of Classics, recently attended the annual meeting of the Society for Classical Studies (SCS). The event took place in Toronto Jan. 5th to 8th.

Gold held two meetings of liberal arts classics chairs and faculty and co-presided over a roundtable event on “Careers for Classicists at Undergraduate Institutions: What to Expect and How to Prepare.”   

Gold is the SCS vice president for professional matters, a position she will hold for four years. She presides over a division that includes the Professional Matters Committee, Professional Ethics Committee, Committee on Diversity, Committee on Gender and Sexuality, Contingent Faculty Committee, Career Planning and Development Committee and the Campus Advisory Committee. 

In addition to Gold, Professor of Comparative Literature Nancy Sorkin Rabinowitz, Assistant Professor of Classics Anne Feltovich and Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics Jesse Weiner also represented Hamilton on the meeting program.
