Stephen Wright '12 tossed a seven-inning complete game shutout in the opener and Hamilton College split a doubleheader with the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Chain O' Lakes Field in Winter Haven, Fla., on March 23.

Hamilton (3-8 overall) won the first game 2-0 behind Wright's masterpiece, but the Continentals dropped the nightcap 14-0. Wisconsin-Stout (2-5) hammered six extra-base hits in Game 2.

Wright's shutout is the first of his Hamilton career, and it's the first for the program since Jake Saidman '09 and Max Foster '10 combined to three-hit Purchase College in a 2-0 victory on March 16, 2009. Wright walked one and stuck out five.

In the first game, Joe Buicko '11 singled and then stole second in the bottom of the first. Justin Atwood '11 grounded out, but advanced Buicko to third. Buicko scored the game's first run on a Wes Mayberry '11 sacrifice fly to left. The Continentals added another run in the sixth inning when Alex Augustyn '10 singled to drive in Atwood, who had led off the inning with a walk.

In Game 2, Wisconsin-Stout scored one run in the first, five in the second and four in the third for a 10-0 lead. Wisconsin-Stout continued to stretch its lead with four more runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Rob Barbieri '13 started on the mound for the Continentals in the nightcap and lasted 1.2 innings. Nzaba Fonseca-Sabune '12 came in to pitch in the second inning. Atwood took over in the fourth. Kevin Prindle '13 and Dan Peters '13 also made relief appearances. Sam Fuentes '13, Peters and Michael Matt '11 all singled to account for Hamilton's three hits.

The Continentals will play North Central College on Wednesday, March 24.
