We are encouraging our students to take advantage of the Blood Drive on campus September 25, which is being sponsored by the Inter-Society Council. The Red Cross strongly encourages you to make an appointment because they have a specified number of technicians at the drive and may not be able to accommodate walk-ins. ISC will have sign-up tables in Beinecke next week Wed. 9/19 through Fri.
For those of you who have never donated blood before, it is important that you realize that there are some restrictions for donating blood.
You must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 lbs., be healthy and not taking an antibiotic. You may only donate every 56 days (8 weeks). Your blood will be tested for HIV and Hepatitis and rejected if tests are positive. Information about the donation process will be available at the time you sign up to donate.
Please do not call the Red Cross. As you can imagine, they are extremely busy and are working with limited staff. If you have any questions about donating blood, please do not call the Health Center either. E-mail your questions to dlynch@hamilton.edu and they will be answered as soon as possible.
