Professor of Mathematics Debra Boutin and Associate Professor of Mathematics Sally Cockburn recently published their joint work "Geometric Graph Homomorphisms" in the Journal of Graph Theory.

In this paper, Boutin and Cockburn introduce a new relationship between pairs of networks that are given with fixed straightline drawings. This relationship pairs two networks when there is a projection from one to the other that preserves both connectedness and crossings, and is used to gather information on classes of geometric networks.
