The Hamilton College men’s soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon in NESCAC competition at Hamilton's Love Field. The Continentals fell to 5-4-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the NESCAC while the Polar Bears are 7-3-0 with a 3-3 mark in conference play.

Bowdoin scored on its first shot of the game and its first shot of the second half to take a 2-0 lead. Sam White ’15 scored his fourth goal of the year to open the scoring 11 minutes into play.

The teams traded goals early in the second period with both teams converting free kicks. Eric Goitia ’15 put the Polar Bears ahead 2-0 with his third goal of the season. Hamilton got on the board 73 seconds later with the second goal of the year from Erich Marcks ’16. Matt Dias Costa ’17 picked up an insurance goal for the Polar Bears midway through the period.

Steve Van Siclen ’18 earned the win in goal, making two saves. Hamilton starting goalkeeper Harris Pollack ’17 made four saves and Nick Tselios ’17 stopped the only shot he faced after relieving Pollack late in the second half.

Hamilton hosts Middlebury on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 1:30 p.m. and the Polar Bears play a Sunday game at Williams.
