The Main Quad Curbing and Paving project is nearing completion.  All the concrete curbing has been replaced with granite. The road repairs have been completed and North Paving has started the resurfacing portion of the project. The concrete repairs for the stair landings of North and Kirkland dorms will follow, when Hockey Camp is over.

In addition, a new water line for a sprinklers systems was installed to Kirkland Dorm, communication conduits brought across from C.A. Johnson to South Dorm and a
graduation conduit brought in front of Carnegie Dorm.

The North Village Road Curbing and Paving project started on Wednesday, July 18.  The project kicked off with "layout" followed by excavation.  This 13' wide roadway will be expanded to 20', five storm water catch basins will be installed, road base damaged by years of construction will be rebuilt in three locations, granite curbing will be installed near Eells and Ferguson, and all but the mandated handicap parking will be removed.

Until completion of the project, parking will not be allowed on North Village Road between Ferguson and Eells.  Access to North Village Road may be detoured around Woollcott.

Please drive carefully during this construction phase.  Parking behind Ferguson and Woollcott will not be affected by this project.

The Library and Root Hall are getting new roofs.   Root Hall will have scaffold surrounding the roof line.  Access to the building will be from the foot paths on both sides and through the front entry.  This area will be hectic while the walk in front of the building is paved.  The contractors will be using the West Quad to access this site so all unnecessary vehicles should refrain from entering and parking in this area.

The Griffin Road Apartments renovation continues on schedule.  The new laundry facility has taken shape and the tedious task of connecting all the subsurface utilities is in progress.  These apartments will have new siding, windows, doors, heating, electric, new entryways, and a sprinkler system, as well as new furniture.

The renovation of Chi Psi is in "phase one."  Phase one is to "secure the envelop"and renovate the rear entry to make all floors handicap accessible.  The excavation work started earlier this summer.  When this phase of the job is complete, the exterior of the building will be finished, waiting for the "phase two" interior work to begin.

East and West Bundy sprinkler and fire alarm are being installed. The Campus Road Equipment Barn is waiting inspection from the project engineer and the building inspector.  There is still site work to complete: grading, installation of crushed stone, an access road to construct, and creation of a storm water stream bed from Campus Road to the detention pond.  The new detention pond has functioned well in the last two storms. When complete, this area will be the storage site of athletic goals, the campus tree and shrub nursery, Root Glen greenhouse, and assorted hardware for Hamilton's water and sewer systems.

With the renovation and retirement of the Campus Road landfill site, a new Sand/Salt Storage and Topsoil Barn is under construction at the Physical Plant on Griffin Road.  The recycling yard has undergone a huge reconfiguration with not only the addition of this "EPA-friendly" building but a new satellite downlink area for ITS and a new 40 yard compactor to handle the 760 tons of municipal waste the College generates yearly.  A landscape screening of spruce and viburnum will provide an attractive barrier to the area.

The Dunham dorm has 160 new sets of solid oak furniture from New England Woodcraft in Vermont.

After the soccer camps are over, the yearly top dressing and over seeding programs for the athletic playing fields will commence.  The sequence will be Mason Field, Steuben Field, Love Field, and then the two lower Campus Road fields.  The Sage Hockey Rink will have ice for about two more weeks, and the Empire State Games will be paying us a visit on the 25th-29th.  The golf course is in good condition this year.
