The Classics Department recently attended its annual undergraduate research conference, Parilia, with students and colleagues from Colgate, Skidmore and Union.

This year, at Skidmore, three Hamilton students gave papers: Evan Kaplan ’12, “Heroic Honor: The Justice of Rage and Revenge” (based on work done with Professor of Classics Carl Rubino); Andre Matlock ’12, “ ‘Nothing is Possible Anymore’: Myth and Violence in Pasolini’s Medea” (based on work done with Professor Rubino and earlier work with Professor of Comparative Literature Nancy Rabinowitz); and LJ Scurfield ’12, “Omnes Legant: Teaching Latin to Students with Learning Disabilities” (based on work done with Professor of Classics Shelley Haley).  

Also attending the conference were Professor of Classics Barbara Gold, and students Amanda Barnes ’12, Kelsey Craw ’13, Tori Morrow ’14, Maggie Ponader ’12, Kirsten Swartz ’12 and Caitlin Tuten-Rhodes ’12.
