Assistant Professor of Economics Emily Conover and Professor of Economics Elizabeth Jensen participated in CeMENT, an NSF-funded workshop organized by CSWEP (the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession) held on Nov. 19 and 20 in San Antonio. Conover was accepted as a participant in the workshop and Jensen was invited as a mentor.

CeMENT workshops are designed to help junior faculty members at liberal arts colleges develop the skills that are necessary for promotion and tenure at institutions that expect both excellence in teaching and high quality scholarship. Through both large-group informational and small-group workshop sessions, participants work with mentors to develop an understanding of the teacher-scholar model at liberal arts colleges, discuss their current and future plans for research, consider grant writing opportunities, share their best practices with respect to teaching and discuss work/time management issues.

Conover participated in a small group focusing on economic development; Jensen facilitated discussion in a small group researching topics in economic history and applied microeconomics.
