Hamilton College placed third in the varsity eights against Colgate University and St. Lawrence University in the Bridge-to-Bridge Head Race held on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y., on Oct. 9.

Racing conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 60s. A quartering tailwind was blowing between 5 to 15 mph.

Against St. Lawrence and Colgate, Hamilton's entry in the varsity eights finished the 6.6-kilometer course in 23:19.58, just 16 seconds behind St. Lawrence. Colgate's time was 22:02.41.

Hamilton "B" took second place in the varsity fours. Hamilton crossed the finish line in 24:44.24, and behind Colgate's time of 23:56.16. Hamilton "A" took fourth place with a time of 25:50.61.

The novice four took second at 26:37.23, behind Colgate's time of 25:30.74. St. Lawrence took third at 28:31.62.

Jaime Leiva-Cabreta '14 was coxswain for the varsity eight. The rest of the boat included Jeff Cardoni '11 at stroke, Rob Fagan '14 in the bow seat and the following rowers (seats seven through two in descending order): Chris Visentin ‘12, Andrew Rippel '14, Aaron Whiteman '13, Jake Lucas ‘13, Dylan Jackson ‘13 and Brandon Wilson '14.

Gibson Hoyt '12 was coxswain for the varsity four "A". The rest of the boat included Rippel at stroke, Jackson in the bow seat, Whiteman in 3-seat and  Rafael De La Rosa ‘12 in 2-seat.

Leiva-Cabrera was coxswain for the varsity four "B". The rest of the boat included Cardoni at stroke, Fagan in the bow seat, Visentin in 3-seat and Matt Poterba '12 in 2-seat.

For the novice four, Colyer Woolson '14 was coxswain. The rest of the boat included Wilson at stroke, Simon Judd '13 in the bow seat, Max Geiduschek '14 in 3-seat and Grant Meglis '14 in 2-seat.

Hamilton competes at the Head of the Genesee Regatta in Rochester, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 16.
