The Hamilton College Department of Classics will welcome The Curio Theatre Company for a presentation of The Iliad, on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m. in the Hamilton College Chapel. This event is open to the public, free of charge. Refreshments will be served.
This is a concise (80-minute) performance of Homer's Iliad that uses the power of the spoken word, with music and rhythmic accompaniment, to evoke the epic with humor and emotional power. The Curio Theatre Company (www.curiotheatrecompany.org) is dedicated to the creation of theatrical works with an open eye to what is possible in performance from classic and contemporary works of art. The company searches for what is truly modern about the classics and uses what the classics teach us about life to inform its contemporary work.
