A group of more than 30 Hamilton alumni, current students, parents and College officials gathered for the Multicultural Alumni Relations Committee (MARC) inaugural event in the South Bronx on January 14. Salsa Caterers and Special Events, owned by Hamilton alumus Daniel Garcia '84, hosted the event. Salsa provided the attendees with superb food and service.

MARC Chair Imad Qasim '79 welcomed the group at the formal start of the program after an informal cocktail reception. Erica Gomez '05 and Ketura Brown '04 gave updates regarding recent MARC activities. Attendees from the Hill included Associate Director of Alumni Relations Laurie Russell and Associate Dean of Students for Diversity and Accessibility Berenecea Johnson.

During this MARC event, Danny Custódio '00 was presented with a College Key Award. Key Awards are given by the Hamilton Alumni Association to individuals who have performed a service or activity which has directly benefited a specific organization or the College in a tangible way. As a member of La Vanguardia and MARC, Custódio was the driving force behind the creation of the successful Latino Renaissance, a multi-day career networking event held on-campus last spring. Activities included keynote speaker Sandra Guzman, a career panel of noteable Latino alumni as well as social occasions that allowed students and alumni to enjoy ethnic food and celebration that included the music of Jimmy Santiago and the Latin Affair.
