The Emerson Gallery Student Art Invitational 2010, features artwork from 15 students who recently completed courses in the visual arts at Hamilton College and celebrates their creativity. The exhibition includes photography, video, sculpture, drawing and painting ranging from introductory to advanced academic levels. The Emerson Gallery Student Art Invitational 2010 will be open through the summer and will close Tuesday, Aug. 31. It is free and open to the public.

The exhibiting student artists are Barsha Baral ’13, Isaac Blasenstein ’12, Michael Bourbeau ’11, Lauren Duncan ’10, Chiquita Paschal ’10, John Powell ’13, Simone Rutkowitz ’10, Benjamin Salzman ’13, Nicole Schilder ’11, Sarah Song ’13, Alicia Specht ’11, Harry Swan ’13, Mary Swartwout ’12, Susan Temple ’13 and Moises Toledano ’10 .

By participating in this invitational show, students were introduced to the process of preparing an exhibition proposal. They also had the opportunity to consider their work outside the classroom setting for the first time and to share their work with the broader community. It is possible that for some students this is the first of many exhibitions of their work as they pursue a career in the arts.

The Emerson Gallery is located on the Hamilton campus in Clinton, New York, in the Christian A. Johnson Hall, directly behind the Chapel. Gallery summer hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. For information on parking and wheelchair accessibility, contact the gallery at 315-859-4396 or at the gallery’s Web site, www.hamilton.edu/gallery.
