Emma L. Hedley, a senior in the Geosciences Department, presented a poster titled “Beach Nourishment at Virginia Beach, Virginia” at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America - Northeastern Section.  Hedley’s work in coastal geology was presented as a poster in the Coastal/Marine Science session and her abstract was published in GSA Abstracts with Programs Vol. 46, No. 2.

The conference was held in Lancaster, Pa. (at the junction of the Northern and Southern Appalachians), on March 23-25. The conference technical program consisted of symposia, theme and general sessions, arranged in oral and poster format. The work Hedley presented was based on her senior thesis with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack.

Hedley, the daughter of Anne and David Hedley, will graduate in May with a major in geosciences and a minor in biology.  She is from Alexandria, Va., and attended St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School prior to coming to Hamilton College.
