Radio host and reporter Felipe Luciano will lecture at Hamilton College on Thursday, April 1, at 8 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn, Beinecke Student Activities Village. His appearance is part of the Black and Latin Students Union (BLSU) Cultural Awareness Series, and is also sponsored by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center. It is free and open to the public.

Luciano is daily radio host of "Conversation with Felipe Luciano," on WLIB; a free-lance anchor and reporter on FOX-5 "Good Day New York," and "Good Day Street Talk;" and a journalist for New York area newspapers and magazines.

Luciano, founder and chairman of the Young Lords Party, was pivotal in changing the color and complexion of politics, culture and society in New York and Puerto Rico through his commitment to community empowerment, ethnic pride and civil rights. As the first Puerto Rican news anchor on a network broadcast, and a rap music pioneer as member of the Original Last Poets, he has challenged stereotypes and predicted and created changing trends and tastes in the media.

Luciano's experience in the Spanish and African-American entertainment industry includes WNBC, WCBS, WNET, WADO, WLIB, Essence Television, the Spanish Broadcasting System, the New York Times, New York Post, Newsday, Polygram Records, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

He is founder and president of Luciano Productions, Inc., which aims to create entertainment products that are honest, insightful and viscerally connected to their targeted audiences.

He was recently appointed to the New York City Police-Community Task Force by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.
