FibroGen, Inc. has named Hamilton graduate Frank Valone '70 as Chief Medical Officer.  Dr. Valone, a veteran of the biotechnology industry, comes to FibroGen from serving as Vice President of Medical Affairs at Bayhill Therapeutics.  Chief Executive Officer of FibroGen, Thomas B. Neff said, "With several ongoing clinical programs for our investigational small molecule and antibody therapies, Frank's proven experience and success will be an important asset to FibroGen."  FibroGen is a biotechnology-based drug discovery company that discovers, develops, and commercializes therapeutics for a host of medical issues including fibrotic disorders, anemia, and cancer.

At Hamilton, Dr. Valone majored in Biology and Chemistry and was a member of the Men's Ice Hockey and Soccer team.  After Hamilton, Dr. Valone went on to receive his MD from Harvard Medical School in 1975 and has since held a number of academic positions at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, University of California in San Francisco, and Stanford University.  Dr. Valone currently stays active in the Hamilton community through various volunteer roles and resides in the San Francisco Bay area.
