McKenna Teague '12 and Elizabeth Clegg '12 each scored a goal to lead nationally ranked No. 2 Bowdoin College to a 2-0 win over Hamilton College in a NESCAC championship quarterfinal at Bowdoin's Howard F. Ryan Field on Oct. 29.

Cathleen Smith '13 and Katie Herter '12 were each credited with an assist for the Polar Bears.  Goalkeeper Kayla Lessard '13 made four saves in posting her fifth shutout of 2011.

Hamilton's Victoria Trentini '15 recorded nine saves. The Continentals ended the season with six straight losses. Hamilton lost 6-0 at Bowdoin on Oct. 15.

Bowdoin (15-0 overall) got on the board 7 minutes, 27 seconds into the first half when Teague netted her second goal of the year.  Smith fed a pass across the penalty circle to Teague, who one-timed a shot into the back of the cage.  It was Smith's sixth assist of the year.

The Polar Bears doubled their lead with 11:32 left in the first half when Clegg scored off a rebound for her seventh goal. Herter was credited with her ninth assist.

Bowdoin did not allow a shot or penalty corner in the first half.  Hamilton played stronger in the second half with seven shots and five penalty corners, but the Continentals were unable to find the back of the cage.  Bowdoin held a 19-7 shot advantage, and took 10 penalty corners to Hamilton's five.

Bowdoin will host the NESCAC championship semifinals and final on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5 and 6.
