Hamilton College fell 2-1 in overtime to host Hartwick College in a non-league game at Wright Stadium on Sept. 29.

Hamilton (4-2 overall) entered the game ranked 20th in NCAA Division III by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Hartwick (5-3) got on the scoreboard first just 7 minutes, 21 seconds in, when the Hawks collected the rebound off a shot and put it into the back of the goal. Hamilton responded in the 34th minute, when Amy Allen '10 scored on a shot from the right side of the goal. Colleen Callaghan '11 was credited with the assist. The goal was the third for Allen in as many games.

The Continentals fought to break the tie in the second half as they outshot Hartwick 7-1, and took 10 penalty corners. However, the teams ended regulation still deadlocked. The Hawks broke the tie 3 minutes, 2 seconds into the first sudden-victory overtime period. A Hartwick player took a pass from the right side of the goal and fired a shot inside the far post.

Courtney DeMaria '10 finished with eight saves. The Continentals held the advantage in shots with 17, while Hartwick took a total of 12. Hamilton also led in penalty corners, 21-5.

The Continentals return to action on Oct. 3 when they host St. Lawrence University for a Liberty League game at 2 p.m.
