Hamilton College's field hockey team is ranked 20th in NCAA Division III by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association in this week's Top 20 poll.
The national ranking is believed to be the first in program history. Hamilton (4-1 overall) is 2-0 in Liberty League play with a thrilling 4-3 overtime win against No. 18 William Smith College on Sept. 25 and a 2-0 victory against the University of Rochester on Sept. 26. The Continentals' lone loss came against fifth-ranked and undefeated SUNY Cortland on Sept. 15.
Hamilton's first game as a nationally ranked team is Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Hartwick College. The Continentals return to league play on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host St. Lawrence University.
