Hamilton's program in Washington, D.C., allows students to connect their academic study of American politics and policy with the unique human resources of the nation's capital. On April 1, students had such an opportunity, when they met at Venable LLP with partners Stuart Ingis '93 and former Senator Birch Bayh.

Ingis represents clients in federal privacy and internet-related legislation and rulemaking. In his three terms in the U.S. Senate from 1962-1980, Bayh authored the Twenty-Fifth and Twenty-Sixth Amendments to the Constitution as well as Title IX of the Higher Education Act. Beyond specific insights about the Obama presidency and the 111th Congress, the discussion gave students a fascinating glimpse of almost 50 years of American national politics.
